Yury Klimovitsky, founder and Master Trainer at PTI, started his athletic career as a sprinter for the Ukraine National Track and Field Team. As a kid, he always wanted to be a coach, and in 1984 he got his wish and became an assistant track and field coach at a sports club in Ukraine. From there he quickly moved up the ranks and became the condition coach for Mining University's basketball and soccer team, but his passion for track and field never diminished. Then in 1992 he became the head Track and Field coach at the Olympic Training School in Ukraine, winning the Coach of the Year Award twice during his tenure there.
In 1997 Yury, his wife Svetlana, and their two daughters moved to the US. Yury started work as a personal trainer at a local fitness club and coached Cross Country and Track at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. After a few years he realized he had a unique opportunity to offer services to the larger community. In 2003 he opened Personal Training International with the goal of helping all of his clients, from people just interested in becoming healthier to national caliber athletes, reach their full potential.
The first location of the PTI studio was in the basement of the Damon Mill Building in West Concord. For a few years Yury and Svetlana comfortably trained their clients with a variety of functional fitness routines, but it became apparent that they were quickly outgrowing the Damon Mill location, so in 2009 they designed and moved into their present location at 30 Sudbury Road.
As the company has continued to grow more trainers and instructors have joined the PTI family. In addition to being certified by nationally accredited exercise physiology programs, all of the trainers at PTI have completed an extended apprenticeship under Yury's direct supervision to insure consistency and quality of the PTI training experience. The future looks bright for PTI as Yury, Svetlana, and the other trainers work to create an even more diverse offering of fitness solutions to help you best meet your goals.
Training at PTI is based on the scientific European fitness model. For each new client we start with a focused analysis of your movement patterns and exercise performance, whether it be in a competitive sport or in daily living. We will then assist you in developing realistic performance goals based on our extensive experience with a broad range of ages and capabilities. By comparing your baseline with your performance goals, our trainers determine the critical muscles that need to be strengthened and conditioned to allow you to reach the next step. Each time you come in we will evaluate your progress and adjust your individualized program if need be.
At PTI you'll never just sit on an exercise machine and work only one muscle group. Instead, you'll preform "functional" exercise. Functional fitness training is a whole body regimen that concentrates on helping muscles work together to prepare your body for real-life activities without pain, injury, or discomfort. Unlike workouts using specialized exercise machines, functional training challenges the body to work as a whole for both everyday activities and for sports specific movements. Functional fitness training is a superior way to improve strength, balance, stability, agility and quickness.
